Same things, different light

Why I keep photographing the objects I already own.

There’s a particular hour in early September when the light comes in low enough to hit the shelf above my desk. For about twenty minutes, everything on it looks new.

I’ve started leaving the camera there. Not to make anything — just to notice.

A small rule

If something on the shelf looks interesting, it’s probably the light and not the thing. That’s fine. Photograph the light.
